July 24, 2010 Storm Behind the Feeder
There was a nice storm just north of the apartment and it was kicking up the wind which made for great antics and hummingbirds tried to catch a blowing feeder. The storm also provided a dramatic back drop to the video. The first video is 34 minutes at the feeder boiled down to a still long 9 and a half minutes. Stay through at least the first 2 as a pair of Hooded Orioles come for a drink and their golden rod covering is illuminated by the Sun. Of course, I could watch the whole thing over and over for hours and probably will.
The first video was shot with my FlipUltra in 640×480 resolution. The second video (pending) was shot with my FlipUltra HD. 1280×720 resolution. Enjoy!
July 22, 2010 Sunset at the Feeder
Hooded Orioles at the Hummingbird Feeder – July 2, 2010
Sunset Feeder Action – August 10, 2009
Another beautiful sunset combined with at least four hummingbirds vying for dinner:
Sunset Cam – June 24, 2009
Fun at the feeder as the competition for dinner ensues with a beautiful sunset backdrop.
Standing Guard – June 5, 2009
This hummingbird likes to sit on my rubbertree plant and guard the hummingbird feeder. Of course it’s all caught on tape by the HummingbirdFeederCam:
Hummingbird Breakfast – June 1, 2009
What does a hummingbird have to do to get breakfast around here? Depends on where you are on the “pecking order” I suppose. Shot just before 7am at the Hummingbird Feeder Cam hummingbird feeder on June 1, 2009, hummingbirds compete for the most important sugar sips of the day.
Morning Feeding – May 28, 2009
This video was shot in the late morning. The raw is about a half hour. I edited it down to about 5:30. This gives you more of the flavor at the feeder. Not just a couple of hummingbirds, but a couple of other types of birds too. I’m pretty sure one of them is a finch. Hang in there until the end to see a brief hummingbird chase!
Hummingbird Tussle – May 28, 2009
Sometimes (OK, often) hummingbirds will vie for position at the feeder. They are not above chasing each other away. Far, far away. Sometimes it resembles a hummingbird dog fight. Here is a frozen video shot:
